Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) Results 2026

What is the Multiplication Tables Check?

The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a statutory assessment for pupils in Year 4. It is designed to assess how well children know their multiplication tables up to 12 × 12.
The check is completed online and consists of 25 multiplication questions. Children are given a short amount of time to answer each question and are encouraged to answer as quickly and accurately as possible.
The purpose of the check is to help schools identify which pupils may need additional support to develop their times table knowledge, which is an important foundation for future learning in mathematics.
Parents can support their children by regularly practising multiplication and division facts at home through activities, games and online resources such as Times Tables Rock Stars.

What are SATs?
SATs are statutory assessments taken by children at the end of primary school.
In Year 6, pupils complete national tests in Reading, Mathematics, and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS). These assessments help measure attainment against national expectations and support a smooth transition to secondary school. Parents will receive their child’s results at the end of the academic year.
